Obernai Storks and Mont St. Odile
Sunday we were picked up from Strasbourg from our friends at French Cycling Holidays. We met our group of fellow cyclists...a big group of 18 I think it is. Mostly consisting of a big family from North Carolina and a couple from Australia. Lots of names to remember! Most people have E bikes on this trip but Dad and I are on regular bikes fueled by Sorbet or Glacé! They are bigger bikes than I am used to but our warm up ride got us into the swing of things with a ride into the town of Obernai and our first climb to Mont St. Odile. A convent/monastery on top of a 764 meter peak named after the patron saint of the Alsace....Odile. When she was 12 years old her sight miraculously returned when she was baptized. Then she was renamed Odile meaning “child of light”.

First half of our ride took us into the of town Obernai. Saw the storks here! And had some Glacé for lunch.

Iconic French sunflower fields and little villages
Storks nesting in Obernai, they make a very unique sound with their beaks.
Walk along the covenant walls requests silence.

Those storks are loving this town! Wonder why? More beautiful pics! You have a good eye for finding great shots! Good luck on ride today!
