Hail and Thunderstorms and Col de Galibier

It was a beautiful day today and we started with climbing Col de Galibier, another classic of the Tour de France.  It was cool in the morning and just gorgeous climbing through the wildflowers, through sheep and up and over snow peaked mountains.  Another 70 miles and 6500 feet of climbing and we arrived in Embrun.  Where it is currently hailing with thunderstorms! Our outside dining turned quite exciting in the end as the storm came in and the patio umbrellas started whipping around and wine glasses were  smashing off  tables.  Here are some collected photos from the day.  Sending much love to home.

  1. Becky has to sacrifice sleep after dinner’s that end after 10pm in order to post on the blog. Her comments and photos will be in place for year’s to come and it will be nice to look back at the blog to refresh my memory of wonderful times together, albeit sometimes grueling when riding in hot weather with long 70 mile days and 10,000 feet of climbing.
