Day 4-Col Mythiques des Alpes- Lac de Serre-Poncon
The rain last night broke the humidity and we had beautiful weather for our ride around Lac de Serre-Poncon. Over a couple of lumpy bits to get out of Embrun and then we emerged to these stunning vistas of blue blue water with mountains surrounding. There were vacationers waterskiing and boating because it is a holiday weekend! Tomorrow is Bastille Day! Should be fun to climb Mt. Ventoux tomorrow. Hopefully the mistral winds won’t be too strong on the grand famous Mountain of Provence.
I loved this ride into Sisteron through the apple orchards and rocky peaks. We have begun to see lavender fields as we near Provence, deep purple in color, and filling the air with their well-known aroma.
Sisteron is an 11th century city situated on the banks of the river Durance. It is also called “the gateway to Provence” because the city lies in a narrow gap between two long mountain ranges.
The WiFi here will not let me upload many pictures today but will try to update again tomorrow morning
